18 I said to their children in the wilderness, 'Do not follow the statutes of your fathers, do not observe their ordinances, and do not defile yourselves with their idols.
28 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
29 Speak to the Israelites and say: Anyone who brings a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord must bring part of it as their offering to the Lord.
35 The Lord made a covenant with them and commanded them, saying, 'Do not fear other gods, do not bow down to them, do not serve them, and do not sacrifice to them.'
22 Then Samuel said, 'Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.'

31 They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.

31 When you offer your gifts and make your children pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. Shall I let you inquire of me, house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will not let you inquire of me.
12 They served idols, about which the Lord had said to them, 'You shall not do this thing.'
22 And the answer will be: 'Because they abandoned the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them. That is why He has brought all this disaster upon them.'

15 But even before the fat was burned, the priest’s servant would come and say to the man offering the sacrifice, ‘Give the priest some meat to roast; he won’t accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.’
