14Declare a holy fast; proclaim a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.
20Look, LORD, and consider: Whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their own children, the little ones they have cherished? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?
5For this is what the LORD says: Do not enter a house of mourning. Do not go to lament or console them, for I have withdrawn My peace from this people, declares the LORD, as well as My lovingkindness and compassion.
9This is why our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons, daughters, and wives are in captivity today.

12Even now, declares the LORD, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
6Old men, young men, virgins, children, and women—kill them all to the point of destruction. But do not go near anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.' So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.
7Then he said to them, 'Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!' So they went out and struck down people in the city.
16Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, even nursing infants. Let the bridegroom come out from his chamber and the bride from her wedding canopy.
17Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, 'Spare your people, LORD. Do not make your heritage an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, “Where is their God?”'
8Their widows have increased to Me more than the sand of the seas. I have brought against them a destroyer at noon, and I have caused anguish and terror to fall upon the city suddenly.
9The mother of seven has grown weak and faint; she has breathed her last. Her sun has set while it was still day; she has been disgraced and humiliated. And the remnant of them I will deliver to the sword in the presence of their enemies,' declares the LORD.
11Tremble, you who are at ease; shudder, you who feel secure! Strip yourselves bare and put on sackcloth around your waists.
8Because of this, I will lament and wail; I will walk barefoot and naked. I will howl like jackals and mourn like ostriches.
21So give their children over to famine; hand them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless and widowed, and let their men die by deadly disease; let their young men be struck down in battle.
1This is what the LORD said: Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take some of the elders of the people and of the priests with you.

17Zion stretches out her hands, but there is no one to comfort her. The LORD has decreed for Jacob that his neighbors become his foes; Jerusalem has become an unclean thing among them.
2And if they ask you, 'Where should we go?' tell them, 'This is what the LORD says: Those destined for death, to death; those for the sword, to the sword; those for famine, to famine; and those for captivity, to captivity.'
5What will you do on the day of your appointed festival, on the day of the LORD’s feast?
19These double calamities have come upon you—destruction and devastation, famine and sword. Who will console you?
7Now therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of Hosts, the God of Israel: Why are you doing such great harm to yourselves, cutting off from Judah man, woman, child, and infant, leaving yourselves without any remnant?
1Then he called out in a loud voice for me to hear, saying, 'Bring near those appointed to punish the city, each carrying his weapon of destruction in his hand.'
9Why do you now cry aloud? Is there no king among you? Has your counselor perished, that pain seizes you like a woman in labor?
9Rise up, you women who are at ease; listen to my voice! You daughters who feel secure, pay attention to what I say!

19When they say to you, 'Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,' shouldn’t a people consult their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?
