  • Luke 9:3-5 : 3 He said to them, 'Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, and do not take two tunics.' 4 Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave the town. 5 If people do not welcome you, leave that town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.
  • Luke 10:4-9 : 4 Do not carry a money bag, a traveling bag, or sandals; and do not greet anyone along the way. 5 When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' 6 If a peaceful person is there, your peace will rest on them; but if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move from house to house. 8 When you enter a town and they welcome you, eat what is set before you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.' 10 But when you enter a town and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say, 11 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off as a warning to you. Yet know this: The kingdom of God has come near.' 12 I tell you, on that day it will be more bearable for Sodom than for that town.
  • 1 Cor 9:7-9 : 7 Who serves as a soldier at their own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not drink the milk from the flock? 8 Do I say these things merely from a human perspective? Doesn’t the Law also say the same? 9 For it is written in the law of Moses: "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it oxen that God is concerned about? 10 Or does He say this entirely for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake because the plowman ought to plow in hope and the thresher to thresh in hope of sharing the harvest. 11 If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material benefits from you? 12 If others have this right to receive from you, shouldn’t we have it even more? But we have not used this right. Instead, we endure all things so that we will not be a hindrance to the gospel of Christ. 13 Do you not know that those who work in the temple eat the food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the offerings of the altar? 14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel. 15 But I have not made use of any of these rights, and I am not writing this to make it happen for me. I would rather die than let anyone deprive me of my reason for boasting. 16 For if I preach the gospel, I have no reason to boast, because I am compelled to do so. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 If I do this willingly, I have a reward. But if unwillingly, I am simply entrusted with a responsibility. 18 What then is my reward? It is that when I preach the gospel, I may offer it free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel. 19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to everyone, so that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law, I became like one under the law, even though I myself am not under the law, to win those under the law. 21 To those without the law, I became like one without the law (not being without God’s law but under the law of Christ), to win those without the law. 22 To the weak, I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings. 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we do it to receive an imperishable one. 26 Therefore, I run with purpose in every step; I fight not like someone beating the air. 27 Rather, I discipline my body and bring it under control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
  • Mark 6:8-9 : 8 He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts. 9 But wear sandals and do not put on two tunics. 10 He said to them, 'Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place.' 11 If any place will not welcome you or listen to you, as you leave, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them. Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.
