He is the God who is in Jerusalem. 4 And let every survivor, wherever they may reside, be supported by the people of that place with silver, gold, goods, and livestock, along with their voluntary offerings for the house of God in Jerusalem. 5 Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, the priests, and the Levites—everyone whose spirit God had stirred—rose to go up and rebuild the house of the LORD in Jerusalem. 6 Their neighbors supported them with silver articles, gold, goods, livestock, and choice gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings. 7 King Cyrus also brought out the articles belonging to the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem and had placed in the house of his gods. 8 Cyrus, king of Persia, brought them out under the oversight of Mithredath, the treasurer, who counted them out to Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah. 9 This was their inventory: thirty gold basins, one thousand silver basins, twenty-nine knives, 10 Thirty gold bowls, four hundred and ten silver bowls of a second type, and one thousand other articles. 11 The total number of gold and silver articles was five thousand four hundred. • Dan 9:2-9 : 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the books the number of years that, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, must be fulfilled for the desolation of Jerusalem—seventy years. 3 So I turned my attention to the Lord God, seeking Him in prayer and petitions, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 4 I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed: 'O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong; we have acted wickedly, rebelled, and turned away from Your commandments and judgments. 6 We have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our rulers, our ancestors, and to all the people of the land. 7 Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but shame covers our faces today—to the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where You have driven them because of their unfaithfulness to You. 8 O LORD, shame covers us—our kings, our rulers, and our ancestors—because we have sinned against You. 9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him. 10 We have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God by following His instructions, which He gave us through His servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed Your law and turned away, refusing to obey Your voice. So the curse and oath written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us because we have sinned against Him. 12 He has carried out His words that He spoke against us and our rulers who governed us, bringing on us a great disaster. Nothing like it has ever been done under the entire heaven as what has been done in Jerusalem. 13 As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and gaining insight into Your truth. 14 Therefore, the LORD has kept the disaster in store and brought it upon us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything He does, yet we have not obeyed His voice. 15 Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made a name for Yourself that endures to this day, we have sinned and acted wickedly. 16 O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, let Your anger and wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain. For because of our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors, Jerusalem and Your people have become an object of scorn to all those around us. 17 Now, our God, hear the prayer and petitions of Your servant. For Your sake, Lord, let Your face shine on Your desolate sanctuary. 18 Incline Your ear, my God, and hear. Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city that bears Your name. For we are not presenting our pleas before You on account of our righteousness, but because of Your great mercy. 19 Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, pay attention and act! Do not delay, for Your own sake, my God, because Your city and Your people bear Your name. 20 While I was speaking, praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God concerning the holy mountain of my God, 21 while I was still praying, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision earlier, came to me in swift flight at the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He gave me understanding and said, 'Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. 23 At the beginning of your pleas, a word went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. So consider the word and understand the vision.' 24 Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. 25 Know and understand this: From the issuance of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the Prince, will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be rebuilt with streets and a moat, but in difficult times. 26 After the sixty-two weeks, the Anointed One will be cut off and have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and desolation has been decreed until the end of the war. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week, he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.
