19Early in the morning, they arose and worshiped before the LORD, and then they returned to their home in Ramah. Elkanah was intimate with his wife Hannah, and the LORD remembered her.
20In the course of time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, 'Because I asked the LORD for him.'
15Elisha said, "Call her." So Gehazi called her, and she came and stood in the doorway.
16Then Elisha said, "At this time next year, you will be holding a son in your arms." She replied, "No, my lord, man of God, do not deceive your servant."
11She said, "Let the king swear by the LORD your God that the avenger of blood will not continue to destroy and that they will not eliminate my son." The king said, "As surely as the LORD lives, not one hair of your son’s head will fall to the ground."
12Then the woman said, "Please let your servant speak a word to my lord the king." He said, "Speak."
15Now I have come to speak this word to my lord the king because the people have made me afraid. Your servant thought, 'I will speak to the king—perhaps the king will grant the request of his servant.
16For the king will hear me and deliver me from the hand of the man who seeks to destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.'
17And your servant thought, 'May the word of my lord the king bring me peace, for my lord the king is like an angel of God in discerning good and evil. May the LORD your God be with you.'
18Then the king said to the woman, "Do not hide anything I ask you." The woman said, "Let my lord the king speak."
36She said to him, 'My father, you have given your word to the Lord. Do to me just as you promised, since the Lord has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites.'
25They slaughtered the bull and brought the boy to Eli.
13So Hagar called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, 'You are the God who sees me,' for she said, 'Have I truly seen the One who sees me here?'
30But the boy’s mother said, 'As surely as the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.' So he got up and followed her.
20Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, saying, ‘May the LORD give you children by this woman to take the place of the one she prayed for and gave to the LORD.’ Then they would return to their home.
21And the LORD was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD.
28She said, 'Did I ask for a son from my lord? Didn’t I say, “Do not raise my hopes”?'
16But Eli called to Samuel and said, "Samuel, my son." Samuel answered, "Here I am."
17One of them said, 'My lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I gave birth to a child while she was there with me.'
22Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, 'After the boy is weaned, I will take him to appear before the LORD, and he will remain there permanently.'
23Elkanah her husband said to her, 'Do what seems best to you. Stay here until you have weaned him; only may the LORD establish His word.' So the woman stayed and nursed her son until she weaned him.
16When Ruth came to her mother-in-law, Naomi asked, 'How did it go, my daughter?' Then she told her everything the man had done for her.
26Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord.
26Now run to meet her and ask her, 'Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?' And she answered, 'Everything is all right.'
20As she was dying, the women attending her said, 'Don’t despair, you have given birth to a son.' But she did not answer or pay attention.
1Hannah prayed and said: 'My heart rejoices in the LORD; my horn is lifted high in the LORD. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in Your deliverance.'
27Now let this gift that your servant has brought to my lord be given to the young men who follow my lord.
28Please forgive the offense of your servant, for the Lord will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my lord, because my lord fights the Lord’s battles, and no wrongdoing will be found in you as long as you live.
17She said to him, "My lord, you yourself swore by the LORD your God to your servant, saying, 'Solomon your son will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne.'
13Elisha said to him, "Tell her this: 'You have gone to all this trouble for us. What can be done for you? Should I speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?'" She replied, "I am content to live among my own people."
20Then he cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy upon the widow I am staying with by causing her son to die?"
21When the woman came to Saul and saw that he was greatly distressed, she said to him, "Behold, your servant has obeyed you. I have taken my life in my hands and done as you requested.
