24 Then Saul said to Samuel, 'I have sinned. I disregarded the command of the LORD and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.'

16 Samuel said, "Why do you consult me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and has become your enemy?
17 The LORD has done as he spoke through me. He has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, to David.
18 Because you did not obey the voice of the LORD or carry out his fierce wrath against Amalek, the LORD has done this to you today.
19 'But today you have rejected your God, who delivers you from all your calamities and distresses. You have said to Him, "Set a king over us." Now present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and clans.'
22 Then Samuel said, 'Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.'
15 But if you do not obey the LORD and rebel against His command, then the hand of the LORD will be against you, as it was against your ancestors.
