You people of this generation, consider the word of the LORD: ‘Have I been a wilderness to Israel or a land of deep darkness? Why do my people say, “We are free to roam; we will come to you no more”?’

13 For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and they have dug their own cisterns—broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

21 A voice is heard on the barren heights: the weeping and pleading of the people of Israel, because they have perverted their ways and have forgotten the LORD their God.
22 Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your waywardness. 'Here we are,' they reply, 'for you are the LORD our God.'
10 This is what the LORD says about this people: They love to wander; they do not restrain their feet. So the LORD does not accept them; now He will remember their guilt and punish their sins.
17 Why, LORD, do you make us wander from your ways and harden our hearts so we do not revere you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes that are your inheritance.
6 'You have rejected Me,' declares the LORD. 'You keep going backward. So I have stretched out My hand against you and destroyed you; I am tired of relenting.'
10 When you tell these people all these words, they will ask you, 'Why has the LORD declared such a great calamity against us? What is our guilt? What is the sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?'
11 Then you are to answer them: 'It is because your ancestors abandoned Me,' declares the LORD, 'and followed other gods, served them, and worshiped them. But they abandoned Me and did not keep My law.
18 The LORD is righteous, for I have rebelled against his word. Listen, all you peoples; look at my suffering. My young women and my young men have gone into captivity.
11 I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open wide your mouth, and I will fill it.
10 They have turned back to the sins of their ancestors, who refused to listen to my words. They have followed other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have violated my covenant, which I made with their ancestors.
13 Instead, they followed the stubbornness of their hearts and went after the Baals, as their fathers taught them.
3 My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me!
19 And when you ask, 'Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us?' you are to tell them, 'As you have forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your own land, so now you will serve foreigners in a land that is not your own.'
20 Declare this to the house of Jacob and proclaim it in Judah, saying:
6 Return to the One you have so deeply rebelled against, O sons of Israel.
5 Why then has this people, Jerusalem, turned away in perpetual backsliding? They hold tightly to deceit; they refuse to return.
19 Listen to the cry of my people from a land far away: 'Is the LORD not in Zion? Is her King no longer there?' Why have they provoked me to anger with their idols, with their worthless foreign gods?
9 You drive the women of my people out of their pleasant homes. You take away my splendor from their children forever.

19 Your own wickedness will discipline you; your backslidings will rebuke you. Consider and see how evil and bitter it is for you to forsake the LORD your God and to have no fear of me,” declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.
17 Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, 'Spare your people, LORD. Do not make your heritage an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, “Where is their God?”'
7 My people are determined to turn from Me. Even though they call to the Most High, He will by no means exalt them together.
15 Yet My people have forgotten Me; they burn incense to worthless idols. They have stumbled in their ways, on ancient paths, and have strayed onto byways, roads not built up.
19 LORD, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of trouble! Nations will come to You from the ends of the earth and say, 'Our ancestors inherited nothing but lies, worthless idols that do not profit at all.'
9 These are a rebellious people, deceitful children, unwilling to listen to the LORD's instruction.
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, 'I will not listen.' This has been your way since your youth; you have not obeyed me.
4 Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: 'This is what the Lord of Hosts says: Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.' But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.
6 Is this how you repay the LORD, you foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, your Creator, the One who made you and established you?
4 On that day, they will take up a taunt against you and wail with bitter lament, saying: 'We are utterly ruined; my people's inheritance is divided. How it has been taken away from me! He removes our fields and gives them to traitors.'
