Then she said, I desire one small petition of you; please do not deny me. And the king said to her, Ask on, my mother, for I will not refuse you.

16 And Bathsheba bowed and did homage to the king. And the king said, What do you wish?
17 And she said to him, My lord, you swore by the LORD your God to your servant, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.
13 And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Do you come peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.
14 He said moreover, I have something to say unto you. And she said, Speak on.
21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother as his wife.
22 And King Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother—for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.
23 Then King Solomon swore by the Lord, saying, God do so to me, and more, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
10 And the king said, Whoever says anything to you, bring him to me, and he shall not touch you anymore.
11 Then she said, I pray you, let the king remember the LORD your God, that you would not allow the avenger of blood to destroy anymore, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of your son fall to the earth.
12 Then the woman said, Let your maidservant, I pray you, speak one word to my lord the king. And he said, Speak on.
26 But me, even me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he has not called.
27 Has this thing been done by my lord the king, and you have not shown it to your servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
28 Then King David answered and said, Call Bathsheba to me. And she came into the king's presence and stood before the king.
18 Then the king answered and said to the woman, Do not hide from me, I pray you, the thing that I shall ask you. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.
30 even as I swore to you by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my place; even so will I certainly do this day.
31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord King David live forever.
32 And King David said, Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada to me. And they came before the king.
24 And Nathan said, My lord, O king, have you said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?
7 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, Ask what I shall give you.
8 And Solomon said to God, You have shown great mercy to David my father, and have made me to reign in his place.
15 Now therefore I have come to speak of this thing to my lord the king, because the people have made me afraid: and your maidservant said, I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his maidservant.
16 For the king will hear, to deliver his maidservant from the hand of the man who would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of your enemies, neither yet have asked long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king:
27 For this child I prayed; and the LORD has granted me my petition which I asked of him:
10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and do not kill it: she is the mother thereof.
7 Two things I have requested of You; do not deny me before I die:

6 And his father had not rebuked him at any time by saying, Why have you done so? And he also was a very handsome man; and his mother bore him after Absalom.

36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, Amen. May the LORD God of my lord the king say so too.
