Saying to a tree, You are my father; and to a stone, You have brought me forth: for they have turned their back to me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

8But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the wooden idol is a doctrine of vanities.
7And my people are determined to backslide from me; though they called them to the Most High, none at all would exalt him.
10Woe to him who says to his father, What are you begetting? or to the woman, What have you brought forth?
26He shall cry to me, You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
2Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth: for the LORD has spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

7They carry him upon the shoulder, they bear him, and set him in his place, and he stands; from his place he shall not move: yes, one shall cry to him, yet he cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
6Turn to Him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.
2As they were called, so they went from them: they sacrificed to Baal, and burned incense to carved images.
8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made a molten calf, have worshiped it, have sacrificed to it, and have said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.'"
4They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I did not acknowledge it. From their silver and their gold, they have made idols for themselves, that they may be cut off.
12My people ask counsel from their wooden idols, and their staff declares to them, for the spirit of harlotry has caused them to err, and they have gone astray under their God.
16And I will utter My judgments against them concerning all their wickedness, who have forsaken Me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
11Has a nation changed their gods, which are not gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.
22Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come to you; for you are the LORD our God.

8Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them.
2While their children remember their altars and their groves by the green trees upon the high hills.
36The LORD shall bring you, and your king whom you shall set over you, unto a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known; and there you shall serve other gods, wood and stone.
4Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children who are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger, they have gone away backward.
16Doubtless you are our Father, though Abraham is ignorant of us, and Israel does not acknowledge us: you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer; your name is from everlasting.
