  • Ps 22:1-9 : 1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? 2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But You are holy, O You who inhabit the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You delivered them. 5 They cried to You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not disappointed. 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people. 7 All who see me laugh me to scorn; they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted in the LORD that He would deliver him; let Him deliver him, since He delighted in him. 9 But You are He who took me out of the womb; You made me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts. 10 I was cast upon You from the womb; You are my God from my mother’s belly. 11 Do not be far from me, for trouble is near, for there is none to help. 12 Many bulls have surrounded me; strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me. 13 They gaped at me with their mouths, like a ravening and roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within me. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue clings to my jaws; You have brought me into the dust of death. 16 For dogs have surrounded me; the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I can count all my bones; they look and stare at me. 18 They divide my garments among them, and cast lots for my clothing. 19 But do not be far from me, O LORD; O my strength, hurry to help me. 20 Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog. 21 Save me from the lion's mouth, for You have heard me from the horns of the wild oxen. 22 I will declare Your name to my brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will praise You. 23 You who fear the LORD, praise Him; all you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him; and fear Him, all you offspring of Israel. 24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from him; but when he cried to Him, He heard. 25 My praise shall be of You in the great congregation; I will pay my vows before those who fear Him. 26 The humble shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD shall praise Him; your heart shall live forever. 27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. 28 For the kingdom is the LORD’s, and He is the governor among the nations. 29 All the prosperous of the earth shall eat and worship; all who go down to the dust shall bow before Him, even he who cannot keep himself alive. 30 A posterity shall serve Him; it will be recounted to the Lord for a generation. 31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, that He has done this.

  • Isa 11:1-9 : 1 And there shall come forth a rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow from his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge by what his eyes see, nor reprove by what his ears hear: 4 But with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the belt of his loins, and faithfulness the belt of his waist. 6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat; the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play near the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the viper's den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand as a sign for the people; to it the Gentiles shall seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

  • Isa 40:1-9 : 1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak kindly to Jerusalem and cry out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, for she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins. 3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be raised up, and every mountain and hill made low; the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places smooth; 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all humanity shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. 6 The voice said, Cry out. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field: 7 The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people are grass. 8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. 9 O Zion, you who bring good news, go up onto the high mountain; O Jerusalem, you who bring good news, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God! 10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with a strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. 11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
  • Isa 42:1-4 : 1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen one, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2 He shall not cry out, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed he shall not break, and the smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth justice unto truth. 4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he has set justice in the earth: and the islands shall wait for his law.
  • Isa 49:1-8 : 1 Listen to me, O islands; and hear me, you people from afar; The LORD has called me from the womb; from my mother's body he has made mention of my name. 2 And he has made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he has hidden me, and made me a polished arrow; in his quiver he has hidden me; 3 And said to me, You are my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. 4 Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God. 5 And now, says the LORD who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel is not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. 6 And he said, It is a light thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give you as a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth. 7 Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to the servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose you. 8 Thus says the LORD, In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you: and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
  • Isa 50:2-6 : 2 Why, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink because there is no water and die for thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering. 4 The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he awakens morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as the learned. 5 The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, nor turned away back. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to those that plucked off the hair: I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.
  • Isa 52:13-53:12 : 13 Behold, my servant shall deal wisely, he shall be exalted and praised, and be very high. 14 As many were astonished at you; his appearance was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: 15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for what had not been told them shall they see; and what they had not heard shall they consider. 1 Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground: he has no form or beauty; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid, as it were, our faces from him; he was despised, and we did not esteem him. 4 Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we considered him stricken, struck by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement for our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he does not open his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off from the land of the living: for the transgression of my people he was stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge, my righteous servant shall justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
  • Isa 61:1-3 : 1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; 3 To appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.

  • Hos 1:7-9 : 7 But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen. 8 Now when she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, she conceived and bore a son. 9 Then God said, Call his name Lo-Ammi, for you are not My people, and I will not be your God. 10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass that in the place where it was said to them, You are not My people, there it shall be said to them, You are the sons of the living God. 11 Then the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

Therefore, the soldiers did these things. 25 Now standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing by, he said to his mother, Woman, behold your son! 27 Then he said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. 28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst. 29 Now there was a vessel full of vinegar set there: and they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it on hyssop and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. 31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the sabbath (for that sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs: 34 But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who saw it bore witness, and his testimony is true: and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe. 36 For these things were done so that the scripture would be fulfilled, Not a bone of him shall be broken. 37 And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

  • Ps 88:1-9 : 1 O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before you; 2 Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry; 3 For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to the grave. 4 I am counted with those who go down into the pit; I am as a man who has no strength: 5 Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, and they are cut off from your hand. 6 You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the depths. 7 Your wrath lies hard upon me, and you have afflicted me with all your waves. Selah. 8 You have put my acquaintance far from me; you have made me an abomination to them. I am shut up, and I cannot come forth. 9 My eye mourns by reason of affliction; LORD, I have called daily upon you, I have stretched out my hands to you. 10 Will you show wonders to the dead? Shall the dead arise and praise you? Selah. 11 Shall your lovingkindness be declared in the grave, or your faithfulness in destruction? 12 Shall your wonders be known in the dark, and your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 13 But to you have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning my prayer comes before you. 14 LORD, why do you cast off my soul? Why do you hide your face from me? 15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up; while I suffer your terrors, I am distracted. 16 Your fierce wrath goes over me; your terrors have cut me off. 17 They came around me daily like water; they have encircled me together. 18 Lover and friend have you put far from me, and my acquaintance into darkness.
