He hoped it would produce good grapes, but it yielded only wild ones. 3 Now then, you inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. 4 What more could I have done for my vineyard than I have already done? Just as a branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and show yourselves to be my disciples.

- Rom 11:17-24 : 17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them and have come to share in the rich root of the olive tree, 18 do not boast against the branches. If you do boast, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 Then you will say, 'Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.' 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you either. 22 Consider then the kindness and severity of God: severity to those who fell but kindness to you, provided you continue in His kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off from a wild olive tree and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more easily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?
- Mark 12:1-9 : 1 He began to speak to them in parables. A man planted a vineyard, built a fence around it, dug a pit for the winepress, and constructed a tower. Then he leased it to farmers and went on a journey. 2 At the appointed time, he sent a servant to the farmers to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 But they seized him, beat him, and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Again, he sent another servant to them. They stoned him, wounded him in the head, and sent him away dishonored. 5 He sent yet another, and they killed him. He sent many others as well; some they beat, and others they killed. 6 Finally, he had one left: a beloved son. He sent him last of all, saying, 'They will respect my son.' 7 But those farmers said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' 8 So they took him, killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. 9 What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy those farmers, and give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not read this Scripture: 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.'? 11 'This came from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes.' 12 They sought to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because they understood that he had spoken the parable against them. - Matt 13:10-15 : 10 Then the disciples approached him and asked, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" 11 Jesus replied, "The mysteries of the kingdom of heaven have been given to you to know, but not to them. 12 For whoever has, more will be given to them, and they will have abundance. But whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken away from them. 13 That is why I speak to them in parables, because although they see, they do not see; and although they hear, they do not hear or understand. 14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah that says: 'You will indeed hear but never understand; you will indeed see but never perceive.' 15 For the heart of this people has grown dull; they can barely hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. - Matt 21:28-22:14 : 28 What do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go work today in the vineyard.' 29 The son replied, 'I don’t want to.' But later, he changed his mind and went. 30 The man then went to the second son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They said, 'The first.' Jesus said to them, 'Truly I tell you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you.' 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him. And even when you saw it, you did not later change your minds and believe him. 33 Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenant farmers and went away. 34 When the time came to harvest the fruit, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit. 35 But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third. 36 Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group, but they treated them the same way. 37 Finally, he sent his son to them. 'They will respect my son,' he said. 38 But when the tenant farmers saw the son, they said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance!' 39 So they seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40 Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenant farmers? 41 They said to him, 'He will bring those wretches to a miserable end and lease the vineyard to other farmers who will give him the fruit at the proper times.' 42 Jesus said to them, 'Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This came from the Lord and is wonderful in our eyes? 43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruit. 44 Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it falls, it will crush him to powder. 45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew he was speaking about them. 46 Although they were looking for a way to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowds, because the people regarded him as a prophet. 1 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: 2 The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3 He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the wedding, but they refused to come. 4 Again, he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited: Look, I have prepared my banquet; my oxen and fattened animals have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.' 5 But they paid no attention and went away, one to his field, another to his business. 6 The rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. 7 The king was enraged. He sent his army, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but those invited were not worthy.' 9 Go therefore to the main roads, and invite everyone you find to the wedding feast. 10 So those servants went out into the roads and gathered all they found, both good and bad. The wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 He said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless. 13 Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him out into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14 For many are invited, but few are chosen.
