    16"About this time tomorrow, I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. You shall anoint him as ruler over my people Israel. He will deliver my people from the hand of the Philistines, for I have seen my people and their cry has reached me."

    17When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said to him, "Here is the man I told you about; he will govern my people."

    25Samuel explained to the people the rights and duties of kingship. He wrote them in a scroll and laid it before the LORD. Then he sent all the people away, each to their home.

  • 12Then David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

  • 18So Samuel called to the LORD, and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day, and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

  • 21And the LORD was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD.
