    19you must do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must purge the evil from among you.

    6But that prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he encouraged rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to lead you away from the path the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.

    7If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the wife of your embrace, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, 'Let us go and worship other gods'—gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known,

  • 12The tribes of Israel sent men throughout the tribe of Benjamin, saying, "What is this awful crime that has been committed among you?"

  • 9You have done more evil than all who came before you. You have gone and made other gods and cast images to provoke Me to anger, and you have turned your back on Me.

  • 17Make sure there is no man or woman, family, or tribe among you whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God to go and serve the gods of these nations. Make sure there is no root among you that produces poisonous and bitter fruit.

  • 15Be careful not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you, and you will eat from their sacrifices.

  • 13If the entire assembly of Israel sins unintentionally and the matter escapes the notice of the congregation by violating one of the LORD’s commands, which should not be done, they are guilty.

  • 17Gather all the spoil of that city into its public square and burn the city and all its plunder as a complete offering to the LORD your God. It must remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt.

  • 11'that you commanded through your servants the prophets, saying: "The land you are entering to possess is a land defiled by the practices of its peoples and their detestable acts that have filled it with impurity from one end to the other."'

  • 10When you tell these people all these words, they will ask you, 'Why has the LORD declared such a great calamity against us? What is our guilt? What is the sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?'

  • 30So keep my charge not to practice any of the abominable customs that were done before you, so you do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.

  • 14So now the Lord is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a devastating plague.

  • 9The children born to them in the third generation may enter the assembly of the LORD.

  • 16These are the things you must do: Speak the truth to one another, render true and just judgments in your gates,

  • 14shall we again break your commandments and intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would you not become so angry with us that you would destroy us completely, leaving no remnant or survivor?
