13 The next day, Moses sat to judge the people, and they stood around him from morning until evening.
14 When Moses’ father-in-law saw everything he was doing for the people, he said, 'What is this you are doing for the people? Why do you sit alone as judge, while all the people stand around you from morning till evening?'
15 Moses answered his father-in-law, 'Because the people come to me to inquire of God.'
16 Whenever they have a dispute, they come to me to seek judgment. I decide between one person and another and make known the statutes of God and His laws.
17 Moses' father-in-law said to him, 'What you are doing is not good.'
2 Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after she had been sent away,
1 Now Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

29 Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law: "We are setting out for the place about which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you.' Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things for Israel."
13 But Moses said to the LORD, "The Egyptians will hear about it! By your power you brought these people up from among them.
15 When Pharaoh heard about this, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian, where he sat down by a well.
16 Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father's flock.
17 Some shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses got up, came to their rescue, and watered their flock.
18 When the daughters returned to their father Reuel, he asked, 'Why have you returned so early today?'
1 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
8 When Jacob went into Egypt, your ancestors cried out to the LORD, and He sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your ancestors out of Egypt and settled them in this place.
10 'So now go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.'
3 Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, "This is what you shall say to the house of Jacob and declare to the children of Israel:
31 When Israel saw the mighty hand of the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in Him and in Moses, His servant.
