22‘They will be taken to Babylon and will remain there until the day I attend to them, declares the LORD. Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.’
2Inquire, please, of the LORD on our behalf, since Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is fighting against us. Perhaps the LORD will deal with us according to all His wonderful works, so that he may withdraw from us.
3But Jeremiah said to them, "This is what you shall say to Zedekiah:
27Now why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who has been prophesying to you?
19Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, 'The king of Babylon will not come against you or this land'?
17Then King Zedekiah sent for him and secretly questioned him in his palace, saying, "Is there any word from the LORD?" Jeremiah replied, "There is. You will be handed over to the king of Babylon."
10This is what the LORD says: When seventy years for Babylon are complete, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place.

21This happened to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its sabbaths. All the time of its desolation it rested, to fulfill seventy years.

11This entire land will become a desolate ruin, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for seventy years.
12Say to the rebellious house, ‘Do you not understand what these things mean? Tell them: The king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, took its king and officials, and brought them back with him to Babylon.
18This is what the LORD says: Behold, I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and have compassion on his dwellings; the city will be rebuilt on its ruins, and the palace will stand in its proper place.
4But now, behold, I have freed you today from the chains that were on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will look after you. But if it seems bad to you to come with me to Babylon, then do not come. Look, the whole land is before you. Go to whatever place seems good and right to you.'
5'If you prefer not to come with me,' he continued, 'then go back to Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the towns of Judah, and stay with him among the people, or go anywhere it seems right to you.' Then the captain of the guard gave him food and a present and sent him on his way.
25This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying:
