  • 13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua approached him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?"

  • 10 Come, let us deal shrewdly with them; otherwise, they will multiply further, and in the event of war, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country."

  • 16 Then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters for ourselves; we will dwell among you and become one people.

  • 22 Then all of you approached me and said, 'Let us send men ahead of us to explore the land and bring back a report about the route we should take and the cities we will come to.'

  • 6 The men of Gibeon sent a message to Joshua at the camp in Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, for all the kings of the Amorites living in the hill country have gathered against us.”
