20 But if you reveal this matter of ours, we will be released from the oath you made us swear.
21 She said, "Let it be as you say." So she sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet cord in the window.
22 They went to the hill country and stayed there for three days until the pursuers returned. The pursuers searched all along the road but did not find them.
20 This is what we will do to them: We will let them live so that no wrath will fall on us for breaking the oath we swore to them.
4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, "Yes, the men came to me, but I didn't know where they were from.
5 At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, the men left, and I don’t know where they went. Pursue them quickly, and you might catch up with them!"

9 and said to them, "I know that the LORD has given you this land and that fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you.
28 They replied, "We have clearly seen that the LORD has been with you. So we said, 'There should now be an oath between us and you; let us make a covenant with you.'"
29 "You must not harm us, just as we have not harmed you but have always treated you well and sent you away in peace. Now you are blessed by the LORD."
15 These men were very good to us. They didn’t harm us, nor did we lose anything during all the time we were with them in the fields.
16 They were a wall of protection around us, both night and day, the whole time we were with them tending the sheep.
21 "These men are at peace with us. Let them dwell in the land and trade in it, for the land is spacious enough for them. Let us take their daughters as wives, and let us give them our daughters.
22 Only on this condition will the men agree to live with us and become one people: every male among us must be circumcised, just as they are.
23 Won't their livestock, their property, and all their animals be ours? Only let us agree to them, and they will dwell with us."
24 The spies saw a man coming out of the city and said to him, "Please show us how to enter the city, and we will treat you kindly."

10 You can dwell with us, and the land will be open to you: live, trade in it, and acquire property here.
7 But they replied to him, "Why does my lord say such things? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing!
8 "Look, we even brought back to you from the land of Canaan the silver we found in the mouths of our sacks. Why would we steal silver or gold from your master's house?
22 'When their fathers or brothers come to us to complain, we will say to them, "Do us a favor by allowing them to have these wives, for we did not obtain wives for them during the battle. And you did not give your daughters to them, so you are not guilty of breaking your oath."'
33 'Then the man who is lord of the land said to us, "This is how I will know if you are honest men: Leave one of your brothers here with me and take food for your starving households and go.
34 Bring your youngest brother to me so I will know that you are not spies but honest men. Then I will release your brother to you, and you may trade in the land."'
11 So our elders and all the inhabitants of our land told us, ‘Take provisions for the journey and go to meet them. Tell them: We are your servants; now make a treaty with us.’
22 But to the two men who had spied out the land, Joshua said, 'Go to the house of the prostitute and bring her out, along with everyone who belongs to her, just as you swore to her.'
20 He said to her, "Stand at the entrance to the tent. If anyone comes and asks you, 'Is there a man here?' say, 'No.'"
15 However, we will agree to you on one condition: if you become like us by every male among you being circumcised.
16 Then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters for ourselves; we will dwell among you and become one people.
24 They answered Joshua, 'Your servants were clearly told how the LORD your God had commanded His servant Moses to give you this entire land and destroy all its inhabitants before you. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and that is why we did this.'
7 They replied, “The man kept asking us about ourselves and our family, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?’ We simply answered his questions. How could we have known he would say, ‘Bring your brother down here’?”
19 Gideon said, 'They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As surely as the Lord lives, if you had spared their lives, I would not kill you.'
23 Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me, my children, or my descendants. Show to me and the land where you have lived the same kindness I have shown to you.
