28But as soon as they had rest, they returned to doing evil in Your sight. So You abandoned them to their enemies, who ruled over them. Yet when they again cried out to You, You heard from heaven and rescued them many times in Your abundant mercy.
22The Israelites said to Gideon, 'Rule over us—you, your son, and your grandson—because you have saved us from the hand of Midian.'
23But Gideon replied, 'I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you.'
31Still, in Your great mercies, You did not utterly destroy them or abandon them, for You are a gracious and merciful God.

7So Gideon said, 'Very well, when the Lord has given Zebah and Zalmunna into my hands, I will tear your flesh with thorns of the wilderness and briars.'
22The Israelites persisted in all the sins Jeroboam committed and did not turn away from them.
5For Israel and Judah have not been forsaken by their God, the Lord of Hosts, though their land is full of guilt against the Holy One of Israel.
