After he spoke this, he said to him, Follow me. 20 Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper and said, Lord, who is the one that betrays you? 21 Peter saw him and said to Jesus, Lord, what about this man? 22 Jesus said to him, If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me. 23 Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die: yet Jesus did not say to him, He will not die; but, If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? 24 This is the disciple who testifies of these things and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.

• Matt 4:18-22 : 18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they immediately left their nets and followed him. 21 And going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.
• Matt 9:9 : 9 And as Jesus passed from there, he saw a man named Matthew, sitting at the tax office: and he said to him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
