Jesus said to him, 'Feed my lambs.' 16 Jesus asked him again, 'Simon son of John, do you love me?' Peter answered, 'Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Take care of my sheep.' 17 The third time, Jesus asked, 'Simon son of John, do you love me?' Peter was hurt that Jesus asked him a third time, 'Do you love me?' He said, 'Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my sheep.' 18 'Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.' 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, 'Follow me.' 20 Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. This was the one who had leaned against Jesus at the supper and asked, 'Lord, who is going to betray you?' 21 When Peter saw him, he asked Jesus, 'Lord, what about him?' 22 Jesus said to him, 'If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!' 23 So this saying spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but rather, 'If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?' 24 This is the disciple who is testifying about these things and who wrote them down, and we know that his testimony is true.
• Acts 2:14 : 14 Then Peter stood up with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: 'Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen carefully to my words.'
• Matt 4:18-22 : 18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, 'Come, follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.' 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and He called them. 22 And immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him.
• Matt 9:9 : 9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. 'Follow me,' he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
