  • 1 Thess 5:2-4 : 2 For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," sudden destruction will come upon them like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
  • Jas 4:1-9 : 1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within your body parts? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. 4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit God caused to dwell in us longs jealously for us? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.' 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
  • Rev 3:3 : 3 Remember, then, what you have received and heard; keep it and repent. If you are not alert, I will come unexpectedly like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
  • Isa 47:3 : 3 Your nakedness will be uncovered, your shame will be seen. I will take vengeance, and I will spare no one.
  • Ezek 13:5 : 5 You have not gone up to the breaches or repaired the wall for the house of Israel, so that it can stand firm in battle on the day of the LORD.
  • Ezek 22:30 : 30 I searched for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land so that I would not destroy it, but I found no one.
  • Hos 13:8 : 8 I will attack them like a bear robbed of her cubs; I will tear their hearts open. There I will devour them like a lion; a wild beast will rip them apart.
  • Amos 4:2-3 : 2 The Lord GOD has sworn by His holiness: 'Indeed, the days are coming upon you when you will be taken away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.' 3 You will go out through breaches in the wall, each woman straight ahead, and you will be cast out toward Harmon,' declares the LORD.
  • Amos 5:4-9 : 4 For this is what the Lord says to the house of Israel: Seek me and live. 5 Do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, and do not cross over to Beersheba; for Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will become nothing but trouble. 6 Seek the Lord and live, or he will rush like fire against the house of Joseph; it will consume everything, and there will be no one to quench it for Bethel. 7 You who turn justice to bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground— 8 He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns deep darkness into morning and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth—the Lord is his name. 9 He flashes destruction upon the mighty and brings ruin upon the fortified city. 10 They hate the one who reproves in the gate and despise the one who speaks with honesty. 11 Therefore, because you trample on the poor and exact a grain tax from them, though you have built houses of cut stone, you will not live in them; though you have planted delightful vineyards, you will not drink their wine. 12 For I know your many transgressions and your mighty sins: oppressing the righteous, taking bribes, and turning aside the needy at the gate. 13 Therefore, the prudent person will keep silent in such a time, for it is an evil time. 14 Seek good and not evil so that you may live, and so the Lord, the God of Hosts, will be with you, just as you have said. 15 Hate evil and love good; establish justice at the gate. Perhaps the Lord, the God of Hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
  • Amos 9:1-4 : 1 I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and He said, 'Strike the capitals so that the thresholds shake, and shatter them on the heads of all the people. Those who survive I will kill with the sword; not one of them will flee, not a single one will escape.' 2 'If they dig down to the depths of Sheol, from there My hand will take them. If they climb up to the heavens, from there I will bring them down.' 3 'If they hide themselves on the top of Mount Carmel, from there I will search them out and seize them. If they conceal themselves from My sight on the floor of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.' 4 'If they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword to kill them. I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good.'
  • Matt 5:25 : 25 Settle matters quickly with your adversary while you are on the way to court. Otherwise, your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
  • Matt 24:44-25:13 : 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. 45 Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Blessed is that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 1 Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 But the wise ones took oil in their flasks along with their lamps. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight, there was a cry: ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise ones replied, ‘No, there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 While they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom came. Those who were ready went with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut. 11 Later, the other virgins also came and said, ‘Lord, lord, open the door for us.’ 12 But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’ 13 Therefore, watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
  • Mark 13:32-37 : 32 But about that day or hour no one knows—not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Stay alert and pray, because you do not know when the time will come. 34 It is like a man going on a journey, who leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their task, and tells the doorkeeper to stay alert. 35 Therefore, stay alert, because you do not know when the master of the house will come—whether in the evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 Otherwise, when he comes suddenly, he may find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: Stay alert!
  • Luke 14:31-32 : 31 Or what king, going to war against another king, will not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to face the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still far away and ask for terms of peace.
  • Luke 21:3-9 : 3 He said, 'Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them.' 4 For they all gave out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she had to live on. 5 Some people were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and offerings, and he said, 6 ‘As for these things you see, days are coming when not one stone will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.’ 7 They asked him, 'Teacher, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?' 8 He replied, 'Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, saying, “I am he,” and, “The time is near.” Do not follow them.' 9 When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be terrified. These things must happen first, but the end will not come immediately. 10 Then he said to them, 'Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.' 11 There will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in various places, as well as terrifying events and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors on account of my name. 13 This will result in an opportunity for you to bear witness. 14 Therefore, make up your minds not to prepare your defense beforehand. 15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and some of you will be put to death. 17 Everyone will hate you because of my name. 18 Yet not a single hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance, you will gain your lives. 20 When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those inside the city must leave it, and those in the countryside must not enter it. 22 For these are days of vengeance, so that all that is written may be fulfilled. 23 Woe to those who are pregnant and nursing in those days! For there will be great distress on the earth and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken as captives to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. 25 There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth, distress among nations, confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. 26 People will faint from fear and the expectation of what is coming upon the world, because the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. 29 Then he told them a parable: 'Look at the fig tree and all the trees.' 30 When they sprout leaves, you see for yourselves, and know that summer is near. 31 In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 34 Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with indulgence, drunkenness, and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all who live on the face of the earth as a snare. 36 Be vigilant and pray at all times, so that you may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.
  • Amos 2:14 : 14 Flight will perish from the swift, the strong will not retain their strength, and the warrior will not save his life.
