16The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
17The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.
18For they utter arrogant, empty words and entice those who are barely escaping from others living in error, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh and by debauchery.
19They promise freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption, for a person is a slave to whatever has mastered them.
16Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
13For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
4I say this so that no one may deceive you with persuasive arguments.
