  • Judg 2:1-3 : 1 The angel of the LORD went up from Gilgal to Bochim and said, 'I brought you up from Egypt and led you to the land I swore to give to your ancestors. I said, I will never break my covenant with you forever.' 2 But you must not make a covenant with the people who live in this land. Instead, you are to break down their altars. Yet you have not obeyed me. What is this that you have done?' 3 So now I say, 'I will not drive them out before you. They will become thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a snare to you.'
  • Neh 9:9-9 : 9 You saw the oppression of our ancestors in Egypt and heard their cry at the Red Sea. 10 You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, all his officials, and all the people of his land, for You knew how arrogantly they treated them. And You made a name for Yourself that endures to this day. 11 You divided the sea before them, and they passed through it on dry ground. But You cast their pursuers into the depths like a stone into mighty waters. 12 By day, You led them with a pillar of cloud and by night with a pillar of fire, to give them light for the path they should follow.
  • Ps 136:10-16 : 10 To Him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, for His steadfast love endures forever. 11 And brought Israel out from among them, for His steadfast love endures forever. 12 With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, for His steadfast love endures forever. 13 To Him who divided the Red Sea into parts, for His steadfast love endures forever. 14 And made Israel pass through its midst, for His steadfast love endures forever. 15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, for His steadfast love endures forever. 16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness, for His steadfast love endures forever.
  • Isa 63:9-9 : 9 In all their distress, he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and compassion, he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. 10 Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them. 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people: Where is the one who brought them up out of the sea, along with the shepherds of his flock? Where is the one who set his Holy Spirit among them, 12 who sent his glorious arm of power to be at Moses' right hand, who divided the waters before them to gain for himself an everlasting name, 13 who led them through the depths? Like a horse in open country, they did not stumble; 14 like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. This is how you guided your people to make for yourself a glorious name.
  • Ezek 20:5-9 : 5 Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: On the day I chose Israel and lifted up my hand in an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, I made myself known to them in the land of Egypt and lifted up my hand to say, "I am the LORD your God."' 6 On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most glorious of all lands. 7 And I said to them, 'Each of you, get rid of the detestable things your eyes are set on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.' 8 But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me; none of them got rid of the detestable things their eyes were set on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and unleash my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. 9 But I acted for the sake of my name, to keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and where I had made myself known to them by bringing them out of Egypt. 10 So I brought them out of the land of Egypt and led them into the wilderness. 11 I gave them my statutes and made known to them my ordinances, by which a person who obeys them will live. 12 Also, I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between me and them, so they would know that I am the LORD who makes them holy. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my statutes and rejected my ordinances—though by them a person will live if they do them—and they greatly profaned my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness to destroy them. 14 But I acted for the sake of my name, to keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out. 15 Also, I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands— 16 because they rejected my ordinances, did not walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths, for their hearts followed after their idols. 17 Yet my eye spared them from destruction, and I did not destroy them completely in the wilderness. 18 I said to their children in the wilderness, 'Do not follow the statutes of your fathers, do not observe their ordinances, and do not defile yourselves with their idols. 19 'I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and obey them. 20 Sanctify my Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between me and you so that you may know that I am the LORD your God.' 21 But the children rebelled against me. They did not walk in my statutes, and they did not keep my ordinances to obey them, though by them a person will live. They profaned my Sabbaths, so I said I would pour out my wrath on them and unleash my anger against them in the wilderness. 22 But I withdrew my hand and acted for the sake of my name, to keep it from being profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out. 23 I also swore to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them throughout the lands, 24 because they did not carry out my ordinances but rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers' idols. 25 So I also gave them statutes that were not good and ordinances by which they could not live. 26 I defiled them through their own gifts, by making them cause all their firstborn to pass through the fire, in order to devastate them and make them know that I am the LORD. 27 Therefore, speak to the house of Israel, son of man, and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Yet in this, your fathers blasphemed me by acting treacherously against me.' 28 When I brought them into the land that I swore to give them, and they saw every high hill and every leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices there, provoked me with their offerings, placed their pleasing aromas, and poured out their drink offerings there. 29 I said to them: What is this high place to which you go? (It is called 'High Place' to this day.) 30 Therefore, say to the house of Israel: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Will you defile yourselves the way your fathers did and lust after their detestable things?' 31 When you offer your gifts and make your children pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. Shall I let you inquire of me, house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will not let you inquire of me. 32 What you have in mind will never happen. You say, 'We will be like the nations, like the peoples of the world, who serve wood and stone.'
