Of all my sons—for the LORD has given me many sons—He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the LORD’s kingdom over Israel.

15 He said, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and with His hand has fulfilled it, saying:'
16 'Since the day I brought My people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a house where My name might be, but I chose David to rule My people Israel.'
13 'However, I will not tear away the entire kingdom. I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of David My servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.'
23 So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all of Israel obeyed him.
24 All the officials, the mighty men, and all of King David’s sons pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.
25 The LORD greatly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and gave him royal majesty greater than that of any king before him in Israel.
5 David said, 'My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent to promote His name and glory throughout all lands. Therefore, I will make preparations for it.' So David made extensive preparations before his death.
6 Then he called for his son Solomon and instructed him to build a house for the Lord, the God of Israel.
7 David said to Solomon, 'My son, it was in my heart to build a house for the name of the Lord my God.'
5 'From the day I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city from any of the tribes of Israel to build a house for My name to be there, nor did I choose any man to be a ruler over My people Israel.
6 But I have chosen Jerusalem for My name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule over My people Israel.'
6 Solomon replied, "You have shown great lovingkindness to your servant, my father David, because he walked before you in faithfulness, righteousness, and uprightness of heart. You have continued this great kindness to him by giving him a son to sit on his throne this day."
7 Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David, but I am only a young and inexperienced servant who does not know how to carry out his duties.
46 Moreover, Solomon has taken his seat on the royal throne.
5 For the LORD your God has chosen him and his sons out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the name of the LORD forever.
17 Then David commanded all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon.
1 When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.

37 I will take you, and you will reign over all that your heart desires, and you will be king over Israel.
32 'But one tribe will remain for the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.'
4 And you will ensure that the LORD fulfills His promise to me, saying, 'If your sons are careful to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.'
34 'However, I will not take the whole kingdom from him but will allow him to remain ruler all his life for the sake of my servant David, whom I chose and who kept My commands and statutes.'
19 And give my son Solomon an undivided heart to keep your commandments, your statutes, and your decrees, and to carry out all these plans, building the temple for which I have made preparations.
11 When your days are fulfilled and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
8 May the LORD your God be praised! He delighted in you and placed you on his throne as king for the LORD your God. Because of His love for Israel and His desire to uphold them forever, He has made you king over them to govern with justice and righteousness.
48 And the king said, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has allowed one of my descendants to sit on my throne today, and my own eyes have seen it.'"
27 Is this decision from my lord the king, without letting your servants know who is to sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"
37 Just as the LORD was with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon and make his throne even greater than the throne of my lord King David."

12 Then the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him: "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.
45 'But King Solomon will be blessed, and David’s throne will remain secure before the LORD forever.'
15 He said, 'You know that the kingdom was mine and that all Israel turned their faces to me to make me king. But the kingdom has been transferred and has become my brother's, for it was the LORD's will.'
7 Now then, tell my servant David: 'This is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.
