6Solomon replied, "You have shown great lovingkindness to your servant, my father David, because he walked before you in faithfulness, righteousness, and uprightness of heart. You have continued this great kindness to him by giving him a son to sit on his throne this day."
7Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David, but I am only a young and inexperienced servant who does not know how to carry out his duties.
8Solomon replied to God, "You have shown great lovingkindness to my father David and have made me king in his place.
9Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?
11God said to Solomon, "Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for wealth, possessions, honor, the death of your enemies, or even many long years—but have asked for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king—
12Therefore wisdom and knowledge are given to you. I will also give you wealth, possessions, and honor, such as no king before you ever had and none after you will have."
12behold, I have done what you asked. I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has never been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.
13I have also given you what you did not ask for: both wealth and honor, so that in your lifetime no king will compare to you.
17And as if this were not enough in your sight, O God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You have regarded me as though I were of high rank, LORD God.
18What more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant.
19LORD, for the sake of your servant and according to your will, you have done this great thing and revealed all these great promises.
8How happy your people must be! How blessed your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!
9Praise be to the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD's eternal love for Israel, he has made you king to uphold justice and righteousness.
19And yet this was a small thing in your eyes, O Lord GOD. You have also spoken of your servant's house for a long time to come, and this is instruction for mankind, O Lord GOD!
20And what more can David say to you? For you know your servant, O Lord GOD.
21Because of your word and according to your own heart, you have done all this great thing to make your servant know it.

8May the LORD your God be praised! He delighted in you and placed you on his throne as king for the LORD your God. Because of His love for Israel and His desire to uphold them forever, He has made you king over them to govern with justice and righteousness.
4Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me out of all my father's house to be king over Israel forever. He chose Judah as leader, and within the house of Judah, He was pleased to choose my father's family. And among the sons of my father, He was pleased with me to make me king over all Israel.
5Of all my sons—for the LORD has given me many sons—He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the LORD’s kingdom over Israel.
20Now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
7Now then, tell my servant David: 'This is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.
10The LORD your God has multiplied you, and now you are as numerous as the stars in the sky.
23He said: 'LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below—keeping Your covenant and showing steadfast love to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart.'
24'You have kept Your word to Your servant, my father David. What You spoke with Your mouth You fulfilled with Your hand, as it is today.'
25'Now, LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant David, my father, what You promised him: “You shall never fail to have a descendant to sit on the throne of Israel before Me, if only your descendants are careful to walk before Me as you have walked before Me.”'
26'Now therefore, God of Israel, confirm the word that You have spoken to Your servant, my father David.'
1Then King David said to the entire assembly, "My son Solomon, the one chosen by God, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great because this temple is not for man but for the LORD God."
8Now therefore, this is what you shall say to my servant David: Thus says the LORD of hosts: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.
9I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones of the earth.
10They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand.
28'Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, LORD my God. Listen to the cry and the prayer that Your servant prays before You today.'
25You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. That is why your servant has found the courage to pray before you.
26And now, LORD, you are God, and you have made this good promise concerning your servant.
27Is this decision from my lord the king, without letting your servants know who is to sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"
3But Joab said to the king, "May the Lord your God multiply the people a hundredfold while the eyes of my lord the king still see it. But why does my lord the king want to do this thing?"
6For you are a holy people to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be His treasured possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

3But Joab replied, "May the LORD multiply His people a hundred times over. My lord the king, are they not all servants of yours? Why does my lord require this? Why should it bring guilt upon Israel?"
15You have kept Your promise to Your servant David, my father. With Your mouth, You spoke it, and with Your hand, You have fulfilled it as it is today.
25And now, O LORD God, confirm forever the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and his house, and do as you have spoken.
