7Now Ebed-Melech, a Cushite, an official in the royal palace, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern. While the king was sitting at the Benjamin Gate,
8Ebed-Melech went out of the palace and said to the king,
9"My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have thrown him into a cistern, where he will die from hunger, since there is no longer any bread in the city."
10The king commanded Ebed-Melech the Cushite, "Take thirty men from here with you and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies."
11So Ebed-Melech took the men with him and went to a room under the treasury in the palace. He took some old rags and worn-out clothes from there and let them down to Jeremiah in the cistern with ropes.
12Ebed-Melech the Cushite said to Jeremiah, "Put these worn-out rags and clothes under your arms to pad the ropes." Jeremiah did so,
15While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him saying,
17But I will deliver you on that day, declares the Lord, and you will not be handed over to the men you fear.
15This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am about to bring upon this city and all its surrounding towns all the disaster I pronounced against them, because they have stiffened their necks and refused to listen to My words.
2The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, 'The LORD your God foretold this calamity against this place.'
3And now the LORD has brought it about and done as He said. Because you sinned against the LORD and did not obey His voice, this has happened to you.

3But Jeremiah said to them, "This is what you shall say to Zedekiah:

15Now therefore hear the word of the LORD, remnant of Judah. This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: If you are determined to go to Egypt and settle there,
12But Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people, 'The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the words you have heard.'
29This will be the sign to you,’ declares the LORD, ‘that I will punish you in this place so that you may know that my words will surely stand against you for harm:
9On that day, messengers will go out from Me in ships to terrify Cush, which lives in complacency. Anguish will overwhelm them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is coming!
21But if you refuse to surrender, this is the word the LORD has shown me:
1This is what the LORD says: Go down to the house of the king of Judah and deliver this message there.
36Now therefore, this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning this city about which you are saying, 'It has been handed over to the king of Babylon through sword, famine, and plague':
17Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, "This is what the LORD God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, your life will be spared and this city will not be burned down; you and your family will live.
1Shephatiah son of Mattan, Gedaliah son of Pashhur, Jucal son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur son of Malchiah heard the words Jeremiah was speaking to all the people:
2This is what the LORD says: Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine, or plague. But whoever goes out to the Chaldeans will live; they will escape with their life and survive.
18This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: As my anger and wrath were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so too will my wrath be poured out on you when you go to Egypt. You will become an object of cursing, horror, condemnation, and disgrace, and you will never see this place again.
19The LORD has spoken to you, remnant of Judah: Do not go to Egypt. Be certain of this: I have warned you today.
3Say, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, you kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am about to bring disaster on this place that will make the ears of anyone who hears of it tingle.
24'This is what the LORD says: I am about to bring disaster on this place and its inhabitants, all the curses written in the book that was read in the presence of the king of Judah.

17Therefore, this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: 'Behold, I am bringing upon Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster I have spoken against them because I spoke to them, but they did not listen; I called to them, but they did not answer.'
