His entire army scattered and abandoned him. 9 They seized the king and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah, in the land of Hamath. There, he pronounced judgment on him. 10 The king of Babylon killed Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, and he also executed all the officials of Judah at Riblah. 11 Then he blinded Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in bronze shackles. The king of Babylon took him to Babylon and kept him in prison until the day he died. 12 In the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard who served the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. 13 He set fire to the house of the LORD, the royal palace, all the houses of Jerusalem, and every significant building in the city. 14 The entire Chaldean army, under the commander of the guard, tore down all the walls surrounding Jerusalem. 15 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, took into exile some of the poorest of the people, the rest of those who remained in the city, the deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon, and the remaining multitude. 16 But Nebuzaradan left behind some of the poorest people of the land to work as vinedressers and farmers. 17 The Chaldeans broke apart the bronze pillars of the house of the LORD, as well as the stands and the bronze sea in the temple, and they carried all the bronze to Babylon. 18 They also took the pots, shovels, snuffers, bowls, dishes, and every bronze article used in the temple service. 19 The captain of the guard took away the basins, firepans, bowls, pots, lampstands, dishes, and drink-offering vessels—everything made of pure gold and pure silver. 20 The weight of the two bronze pillars, the bronze sea, the twelve bronze oxen underneath it, and the stands, which King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, was beyond calculation. 21 Each pillar was eighteen cubits high. It was hollow, its walls were four fingers thick, and a measuring cord twelve cubits long could encircle it. 22 The bronze capital on each pillar was five cubits high, decorated with a lattice of bronze network and pomegranates all around. Both pillars were the same, including the pomegranates. 23 There were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides, and the total number of pomegranates on the lattice surrounding them was a hundred. 24 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, took Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the deputy priest, and the three doorkeepers. 25 From the city, he took one court official who was in charge of the men of war, seven men of those who had personal access to the king and were found in the city, the scribe of the commander who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people who were found within the city. 26 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah. 27 The king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was taken into exile from its land. 28 This is the number of people whom Nebuchadnezzar exiled: in the seventh year, 3,023 Jews; 29 in Nebuchadnezzar's eighteenth year, 832 people were exiled from Jerusalem; 30 and in his twenty-third year, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, exiled 745 Jews. In total, 4,600 people were taken away. 31 In the thirty-seventh year of Jehoiachin’s exile, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-merodach, king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, showed favor to Jehoiachin, king of Judah, and released him from prison. 32 He spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the thrones of the kings who were with him in Babylon. 33 Jehoiachin changed out of his prison clothes and regularly ate at the king’s table for the rest of his life. 34 As long as he lived, his regular food allowance was given to him by the king of Babylon, day by day, until his death.

Your land will be desolate and your cities will lie in ruins. 34 Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. 35 As long as it lies desolate, it will have the rest it did not have during the sabbaths while you lived there. 36 As for those of you who survive, I will bring weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a driven leaf will put them to flight, and they will flee as though running from a sword, though no one pursues them. 37 They will stumble over one another as if fleeing from the sword, though no one pursues them. You will not be able to stand before your enemies. 38 You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will consume you. 39 Those of you who remain will waste away in their iniquity in the lands of your enemies; and also because of the iniquities of their ancestors, they will waste away with them. 40 But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their ancestors—their unfaithfulness with which they were unfaithful to me, and also how they walked contrary to me— 41 so that I also walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their punishment for their iniquity, 42 then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land. 43 For the land will be abandoned by them and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their punishment for their iniquity, because they rejected my judgments and their soul abhorred my statutes. 44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely, breaking my covenant with them, for I am the LORD their God. 45 For their sake, I will remember the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God: I am the LORD. 46 These are the statutes, judgments, and laws the LORD established between himself and the sons of Israel through Moses on Mount Sinai.

You will march out against them in one direction but flee from them in seven directions. You will become a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth. 26 Your carcasses will be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away. 27 The LORD will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, scabs, and an incurable itch. 28 The LORD will strike you with madness, blindness, and confusion of heart. 29 At midday, you will grope around like a blind person in the dark. You will not prosper in your ways; you will be continually oppressed and robbed, with no one to save you. 30 You will become engaged to a woman, but another man will violate her. You will build a house, but you will not live in it. You will plant a vineyard, but you will not enjoy its fruit. 31 Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your donkey will be taken forcibly from you and will not be returned. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and no one will rescue them. 32 Your sons and daughters will be given to another people while you watch with longing eyes all day, but you will be powerless to act. 33 A people you don’t know will eat the fruit of your land and the result of your labor. You will be oppressed and crushed continually. 34 You will go mad because of the things you see with your own eyes. 35 The LORD will strike you with painful and incurable boils on your knees and legs, and from the sole of your foot to the top of your head. 36 The LORD will drive you and the king you set over yourself to a nation that neither you nor your ancestors have known, and there you will serve other gods made of wood and stone. 37 You will become an object of horror, a byword, and a taunt among all the peoples to which the LORD will drive you. 38 You will sow much seed in the field but gather little, because locusts will consume it. 39 You will plant vineyards and cultivate them, but you will not drink their wine or gather their grapes, for worms will eat them. 40 You will have olive trees throughout your territory, but you will not anoint yourself with oil, for your olives will drop off prematurely. 41 You will have sons and daughters, but they will not remain with you, because they will go into captivity. 42 Swarms of insects will take possession of all your trees and the produce of your land. 43 The foreigner who resides among you will rise higher and higher above you, but you will sink lower and lower. 44 He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail. 45 All these curses will come upon you, pursue you, and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God by keeping His commandments and statutes that He commanded you. 46 These curses will become a sign and a wonder against you and your descendants forever. 47 Because you did not serve the LORD your God joyfully and wholeheartedly in the time of abundance. 48 You will serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and total destitution. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand. 50 It will be a fierce and ruthless nation, showing no respect for the old and no mercy for the young. 51 They will eat the offspring of your livestock and the produce of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine, or fresh oil, no calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks, until they have wiped you out. 52 They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until your high fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down. They will besiege all the cities in the land the LORD your God has given you. 53 Because of the suffering your enemy inflicts upon you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of your womb—the flesh of your sons and daughters whom the LORD your God has given you. 54 Even the most tender and refined man among you will begrudge his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children who are still alive. 55 He will not share with any of them the flesh of his children that he is eating, because he has nothing else during the suffering and siege that your enemy will inflict on all your cities. 56 The most tender and delicate woman among you, so refined that she would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground, will begrudge the husband she loves, her son, and her daughter. 57 She will secretly eat her afterbirth and the children she bears during the siege and suffering that your enemy inflicts upon your cities, because she is in dire need of food. 58 If you do not carefully follow all the words of this law that are written in this book, and do not fear this glorious and awesome name—the LORD your God— 59 then the LORD will bring extraordinary plagues upon you and your descendants, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and enduring diseases. 60 He will bring back upon you all the diseases of Egypt, which you dreaded, and they will cling to you. 61 The LORD will also bring upon you every sickness and plague not written in this Book of the Law, until you are completely destroyed. 62 You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left few in number, because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God. 63 Just as it pleased the LORD to make you prosper and multiply, so it will please Him to ruin and destroy you. You will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess. 64 Then the LORD will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will serve other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known. 65 Among those nations, you will find no peace, and no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you an anxious heart, failing eyes, and a despairing soul. 66 Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will be filled with fear night and day, and you will not be sure of your life. 67 In the morning you will say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and in the evening you will say, ‘If only it were morning!’ because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights your eyes will see. 68 The LORD will bring you back to Egypt in ships, in the way I said you would never see again. There, you will sell yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.
• Deut 29:18-28 : 18 When such a person hears the words of this curse, they may bless themselves in their heart and say, 'I will have peace, even though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.' This will lead to the destruction of both the well-watered and the dry. 19 The LORD will not be willing to forgive such a person. His anger and jealousy will burn against them, and every curse written in this scroll will fall on them. The LORD will blot out their name from under the heavens. 20 The LORD will single them out for disaster from all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law. 21 Future generations—your children who come after you and the foreigner who comes from a distant country—will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the LORD has afflicted it. 22 The whole land will be a burning waste of sulfur and salt, nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His fierce anger. 23 All the nations will ask, 'Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?' 24 And they will answer, 'It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their ancestors, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt. 25 They turned to other gods and worshiped and bowed down to them, gods they did not know and gods the LORD had not given to them.' 26 Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against this land, bringing upon it every curse written in this book. 27 In His anger and great wrath, the LORD uprooted them from their land and cast them into another land, as it is today. 28 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
• Deut 30:18 : 18 I declare to you today that you shall surely perish and will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
• Deut 31:16-18 : 16 The LORD said to Moses, 'Behold, you are going to rest with your ancestors, and this people will rise up and prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.' 17 On that day, my anger will burn against them, and I will abandon them and hide my face from them, and they will be consumed. Many disasters and calamities will come upon them, and on that day they will say, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?' 18 'And I will surely hide my face on that day because of all the evil they have done by turning to other gods.'
• Deut 32:15-28 : 15 But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; you grew fat, thick, and bloated. Then he forsook the God who made him and treated with contempt the Rock of his salvation. 16 They made Him jealous with strange gods and provoked Him to anger with detestable practices. 17 They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods they had not known, to new gods that had recently appeared, gods your ancestors did not fear. 18 You ignored the Rock who begot you; you forgot the God who gave you birth. 19 The LORD saw this and despised them out of His anger at His sons and daughters. 20 He said: I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end will be, for they are a perverse generation, children in whom there is no faithfulness. 21 They made Me jealous with something that is not God; they provoked Me with their worthless idols. So I will make them jealous with those who are not a nation; I will provoke them with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire has been kindled in My wrath, and it burns to the depths of Sheol. It consumes the earth and its produce and sets ablaze the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap calamities on them and expend My arrows against them. 24 Wasted by famine, consumed by burning heat and bitter destruction, I will send against them the teeth of wild animals and the venom of creatures that crawl in the dust. 25 Outside, the sword will bring bereavement, and inside, there will be terror. It will affect both the young man and the young woman, the nursing child with the gray-haired man. 26 I said I would scatter them and erase their memory from mankind, 27 but I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries misunderstand and say, 'Our own hand has triumphed; it was not the LORD who did all this.' 28 For they are a nation void of counsel, and there is no understanding in them.
• 2 Kgs 24:2-3 : 2 The LORD sent against him bands of Chaldeans, Arameans, Moabites, and Ammonites. He sent them to destroy Judah, fulfilling the word of the LORD spoken through His servants, the prophets. 3 Surely this came upon Judah by the command of the LORD, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh and all he had done.
• 2 Kgs 25:1-9 : 1 In the ninth year of his reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came with his entire army against Jerusalem. He laid siege to the city and built a siege wall around it. 2 The city was under siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 3 By the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine in the city had become severe, and there was no food for the people of the land. 4 Then the city wall was breached, and all the warriors fled at night through the gate between the two walls near the king's garden, even though the Chaldeans were surrounding the city. They escaped toward the Arabah. 5 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his troops scattered away from him. 6 They captured the king and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah, where they passed judgment on him. 7 The sons of Zedekiah were slaughtered before his eyes, and then his eyes were blinded. They bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon. 8 On the seventh day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. 9 He burned down the house of the LORD, the royal palace, and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every large house was burned down. 10 The entire Chaldean army, under the captain of the guard, tore down the walls of Jerusalem that surrounded the city. 11 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, exiled the remainder of the people who were left in the city, including the deserters who had joined the king of Babylon, and the rest of the population. 12 But the captain of the guard left some of the poorest people of the land to tend the vineyards and the fields. 13 The Chaldeans broke apart the bronze pillars of the house of the LORD, the stands, and the bronze sea that were in the house of the LORD, and they carried the bronze to Babylon. 14 They took the pots, the shovels, the wick trimmers, the dishes, and all the bronze utensils used in the temple service. 15 The captain of the guard also took the firepans and the sprinkling bowls—everything that was made of gold and silver. 16 The weight of the two pillars, the bronze sea, and the stands, which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, could not be weighed because of their immense weight. 17 Each pillar was eighteen cubits tall, with a bronze capital on top. The capital was three cubits high. It was decorated with a network of pomegranates all around, all made of bronze. The second pillar had the same design, including the network. 18 The captain of the guard arrested Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the deputy priest, and the three keepers of the threshold. 19 From the city, he took a court official who was in charge of the men of war, five men from those who advised the king, the secretary of the commander of the army who was responsible for conscripting the people of the land, and sixty men from the people of the land found in the city. 20 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah. 21 The king of Babylon struck them down and executed them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah went into exile away from its land. 22 As for the people who were left in the land of Judah, whom King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had left, he appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, as governor over them. 23 When all the commanders of the armies and their men heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah as governor, they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah—Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maacathite—and they and their men. 24 Gedaliah swore an oath to reassure them and their men: 'Do not be afraid of the Chaldean officials. Settle in the land, serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.' 25 In the seventh month, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of royal descent, came with ten men and struck down Gedaliah. They also killed the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah. 26 Then all the people, from the youngest to the oldest, together with the army commanders, arose and fled to Egypt because they were afraid of the Chaldeans. 27 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-merodach, king of Babylon, in the year he began to reign, released Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. 28 He spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat of honor higher than those of the other kings who were with him in Babylon. 29 Jehoiachin changed out of his prison clothes and ate regularly at the king's table for the rest of his life. 30 His daily portion was provided by the king, a regular allowance given for each day, all the days of his life.
• 2 Chr 24:21 : 21 But they conspired against him, and at the king's command, they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the house of the Lord.
• 2 Chr 33:11 : 11 So the LORD brought against them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria. They captured Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze shackles, and took him to Babylon.
