8Even if I boast a little more about the authority the Lord gave us for building you up and not for tearing you down, I will not be ashamed.
9I do not want to seem as though I am trying to frighten you with my letters.
8For this reason, although I have great boldness in Christ to command you to do what is right,

13Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
12I beg you, brothers: Become like me, for I also became like you. You have done me no wrong.
15But I have not made use of any of these rights, and I am not writing this to make it happen for me. I would rather die than let anyone deprive me of my reason for boasting.
6Now from those who seemed to be important—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show partiality—those of reputation contributed nothing to me.
17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away to Arabia, and then returned to Damascus.

4Though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks they have grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:
2I went up because of a revelation and presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles, but I did this privately to those of reputation, so that I might ensure I was not running or had not run in vain.
2I beg you that when I am present, I will not have to be bold with the confidence I consider using against some, who think we live according to the flesh.
17The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.

6We did not seek glory from people, neither from you nor from others.

11For this purpose, I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
12What I mean is this: One of you says, 'I follow Paul,' another, 'I follow Apollos,' another, 'I follow Cephas,' and still another, 'I follow Christ.'
17Did I take advantage of you through any of those I sent to you?
4Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we would be ashamed—not to mention you—in this confidence of boasting.
