    11The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD and served the Baals.

    12They abandoned the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. They followed other gods, the gods of the peoples around them. They bowed down to them and provoked the LORD to anger.

    13They abandoned the LORD and worshipped Baal and the Ashtaroth.

  • 9And the people will answer, 'Because they abandoned the LORD their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and they embraced other gods, worshiped them, and served them. That is why the LORD brought all this disaster on them.'

  • 34To this day they continue to practice their former customs. They neither fear the Lord nor follow the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments that the Lord gave the descendants of Jacob, whom He named Israel.
