6Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, 'Do not uncover your heads or tear your clothes in mourning, or you will die, and the LORD’s wrath will come upon the entire community. However, your relatives—all the house of Israel—may mourn for those the LORD burned.
7Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have corrupted themselves."
8They have turned aside quickly from the way I commanded them. They have made for themselves a molten calf, bowed down to it, sacrificed to it, and said, 'These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.'
9The LORD also said to Moses, "I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people."
10Moses heard the people weeping throughout their clans, each at the entry of his tent. The anger of the LORD burned greatly, and Moses was very displeased.
24Instead of perfume, there will be a stench; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of well-set hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.
18When all the people saw the thunder and the lightning flashes, and heard the sound of the trumpet, and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear and stood at a distance.
18They will put on sackcloth, and horror will cover them. Shame will be on every face, and every head will be shaved.
28Moses removed Aaron's garments and put them on his son Eleazar. And Aaron died there at the top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
29When the whole community saw that Aaron had died, they mourned for him thirty days—all the house of Israel.

17On that day, my anger will burn against them, and I will abandon them and hide my face from them, and they will be consumed. Many disasters and calamities will come upon them, and on that day they will say, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?'

31So Moses returned to the LORD and said, "Oh, this people have committed a great sin; they have made themselves gods of gold.
1On the twenty-fourth day of this month, the Israelites gathered together, fasting, wearing sackcloth, and putting dust on their heads.
12Then the LORD said to me, 'Go down immediately, for your people, whom you brought out of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. They have quickly turned aside from the way I commanded them; they have made a molten image for themselves.'
14Moses went down from the mountain to the people, consecrated them, and they washed their garments.
24O daughters of Israel, weep for Saul, who clothed you in scarlet and finery, who adorned your garments with ornaments of gold.
12In that day the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, called you to weeping, wailing, shaving your heads, and wearing sackcloth.
3Go to a land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people, and I might destroy you on the way.
4The LORD said to Moses, 'Take all the leaders of the people and execute them in broad daylight before the LORD, so that the LORD's fierce anger may turn away from Israel.'
22Both men and women, all who were willinghearted, brought brooches, earrings, rings, ornaments, and all kinds of gold items—each person gave an offering of gold to the LORD.
11Stone him to death because he sought to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
20Then the entire assembly of the Israelites left Moses' presence.
35Then the LORD struck the people with a plague, because of what they had done with the calf Aaron had made.
